Make Your Mark with Intermedia Arts

WHERE:
East side of Hennepin Avenue between Lake Street and Lagoon Avenue

OVERVIEW: Each year the Uptown Art Fair selects a charity to spotlight as a way of honoring the unsung work of a local non-profit. This year’s charitable partner was Intermedia Arts. As Minnesota’s premier multidisciplinary, multicultural arts center, Intermedia Arts builds understanding among people by catalyzing and inspiring artists and audiences to make changes in their lives and communities.

FEATURES:

Intermedia Arts’ Youth Booth: Guest could stop by anytime throughout the fair and make their mark by contributing to a collaborative community mural. Work with local artists and youth from Intermedia programs to create an original large-scale mural.  Check it out now on the Intermedia Facebook page and at their gallery.

Roving Media Active youth reporters could be found at the fair reporting on fair happenings and interviewing fairgoers and artists.  Anyone could ask them about Intermedia Arts and get a chance to win a T-shirt, free tickets or backpack. Watch their reports on intermediaarts.org and on twitter.com/intermediaarts. The Media Active program employs youth to produce media content for non-profits and businesses, providing youth with valuable media production experience.

Many supported Intermedia at their VANdemonium locations (throughout the fair) by donating to the important work they do.
This year Intermedia Arts aims to raise $38,000 to purchase a van to transport youth safely to and from after-school programming and events. Cash, check and new-vehicle donations gratefully accepted.
