For the first time, the Uptown Art Fair is pleased to present a night of Film a the Fair! In partnership with the Film Society of Minneapolis St. Paul, The Wizard of Oz will be playing on a big screen under a rainbow of stars. Slip on your ruby red slippers, follow the yellow brick road to the lot on Girard and Lake (behind Calhoun Square) and enjoy this timeless Academy Award winning classic in Uptown.

The film will start at 8:45 pm on Friday, August 5th. If there is a rain-out, it will be presented at 8:45 pm on Saturday.

The Film Society is Minnesota’s leading exhibitor of international independent cinema. A non-profit, member based organization, the Film Society exhibits nightly at the St. Anthony Main Theatre and hosts the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival, the region’s largest and longest running film event.

CANvas Uptown

CANvasFBpostdecorated

Business owners and artists designed and decorated more than 90 one-gallon metal paint cans that were then displayed at businesses in Uptown and throughout Minneapolis. Businesses could either decorate their own cans or be assigned an artist to decorate one for them. The participating businesses were also featured in our CANvas Uptown Passport along with a special promotion they were having to encourage visitors to see the cans for themselves.

Not only are these cans amazing works of art, they also do good for the community.  The cans were a part of an online auction with proceeds benefiting neighborhood betterment projects in Uptown.
